Classrooms across the world have recently been taken over by smart gadgets and smart tools and one of the most prominent and popular usages of technology was reflected in the note-making process of the students. Not just for note-making, an inflow of applications happened in the last decade which supports every kind of writing.

Some of the most popular note-making apps are Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Evernote, One Note, Apple Notes, etc. But as far as the popularity and maximum usage percentage are concerned, Google Docs and Evernote are the clear winners in this section.

They are used across the world for smart note-making which incorporates numerous study aids along the note-making procedure. The following section explores the depths of both these applications and what essentially makes them positively different from the rest of the lot.

Evernote

Evernote is undoubtedly one of the most advanced note-making applications available in the field today. It comes with numerous unique features that make it stand out from the rest. One of the major features of Evernote is the Search feature provided by them. the user can search for any part of the note by searching a keyword or the name of the people to whom it was tagged, the date of creation, etc.

Another crucial service offered by Evernote is the provision to clip numerous media files along with the note. The user can include images, videos, screenshots, pdf files, etc., in between the notes. It also lets the user record voices and saves them as audio notes.

Google Docs

Being backed by the internet giant Google, this application gets the best tool set in the town and this privilege does reflect in its sharp and sophisticated functioning. Although it was envisioned as a document processor available online, it also serves as an efficient note-making application.

One of the prominent features of Google Docs is that it can save the history of a document or note for quite a long time. This lets the user check for previous versions of the notes and save if anything is found necessary or accidentally removed from the current version of notes.

It also provides access to third-party apps like Grammarly which contributes to the availability of high-end editing and formatting tools. It also supports voice-typing in the application, which further lightens the process of note-making for the user.

Comparison between Evernote and Google Docs

Note sharing capabilities

Being able to share the note made is an important and inevitable feature for a worthy note-making app. While both Evernote and Google Docs support note-sharing, it is the speed of the sharing and the availability of sharing options, which are the deciding factors.

Google Docs scores better in the note-sharing criteria. Its sharing capabilities are much more advanced and evolved. The user can either send the notes to an individual or a group of people. Also, the user can permit others to view the notes, edit them, etc. But when it comes to Evernote, the sharing capabilities are mostly limited to email. It won’t let multiple users work on the same note at the same time, unlike Google Docs.

Organization of notes

When it comes to the organization system and the systematic arrangement of notes, Evernote is much better than Google Docs. As Google Docs is not originally made for note-making, specialized tools for organizing notes are less available in the application.

On the other hand, Evernote employs and features numerous organizational techniques and tools to create a non0chaotic, disciplined system. It uses notebooks, tags, titles, notebook stacks, etc. to differentiate between various notes and arrange them accordingly.

Task management

When it comes to managing tasks by creating to-do lists, short goals, etc., Evernote provides more possibilities. Google Docs contains a to-do list maker, but not any other similar tools. But when it comes to Evernote, it can divide the task into various sections, allot them between multiple users, and even set reminders for the completion of the work.

Compatibility with various platforms

Any note-making application must be compatible with multiple operating systems as it shows the flexibility of the application. When it comes to compatibility, both applications are quite similar. They work well in almost every operating system and do not cause any issues with proper functioning. They can also be used in smart gadgets or smartphones with the same effect and efficiency.
