Google provides its customers with the provision of converting the Office files to Google Docs files individually. While it has immense positives all along, having a default system that converts word documents into Google Docs could be an added advantage to the user. There is a possibility of carrying out such a function through Google Drive of the user and all it takes is a few steps that are extremely simple and low-complicated.
How to convert multiple word documents to Google Docs?
Step 1. Click on the Google Drive icon on the browser and open the application.
Step 2. Click on the Settings icon on the top of the window.
Step 3. Click on the Settings option from the menu and then a new window appears.
Step 4. From the window, find the Convert Uploads option.
Step 5. Activate the Convert Uploaded Files to Google Docs Editor Format option.
Step 6. Once finished with the process, click on the Done option at the top right corner of the window.
Step 7. Click on the New option on the sidebar of the Google Drive window.
Step 8. From the drop-down menu that appears, click on the File Upload option.
Step 9. Choose the files to be uploaded for conversion from the device.
Step 10. Once the files are chosen, click on the Open option at the bottom of the window.
Step 11. A notification on the status of the uploading appears at the bottom of the screen.
Step 12. Once the upload is completed also, a notification appears at the bottom of the screen.
Step 13. Now the user can check the uploaded file in Google Drive and can see that it is converted to a Google Docs file by the presence of the Google Docs icon along with it.
This way, the users can convert multiple word documents at the same time to Google Docs without having to go through the burden of converting them individually. But the user has to be aware of the fact that the files that are uploaded after enabling the convert option are only converted and not the previous ones that were already in the Drive.
How to disable the conversion of word documents into Google Docs?
Step 1. Open the Google Drive application on the device.
Step 2. Click on the Settings icon at the top of the window.
Step 3. From the options that appear, click on the Settings option.
Step 4. A Settings window appears on the screen.
Step 5. From the window, find the Convert Uploads section.
Step 6. Uncheck or disable the conversion of uploaded files.
Step 7. Once the Conversion option is disabled, click on the Done option present at the top right corner of the window.
The process is completed and no files uploaded to Google Drive will now be converted automatically to Google Docs. Although, the previous documents that were converted using this function remain the same as Google Docs.
