Google has provided us with plenty of useful apps like Google Meet, Google Chat, and Google Rooms to conduct our meetings efficiently. There’s no doubt these apps have been a big blessing in this work-from-home situation during this pandemic.
If you use Gmail, you surely have noticed the dedicated sections in the Gmail sidebar. In the same section, you will find options like Google Meet, Google Chat, and Google Rooms. These apps are used by millions of people for work-related and other purposes. However, not everyone prefers to use the same services. Some users prefer other video calling apps over these and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Steps to disable the Meet, Chat, and Rooms tabs in Gmail:
- Open Gmail:
- On the upper right corner, click the settings icon > see all settings:
- In the settings pane, head to Chat and meet tab:
- Now, in the Chats and Meet tab Turn off the Chat and Meet pane:
- Click Save Changes, and you are done:
